Q. What is the best way to get to Nanaimo?

A. There are several options, outlined below. Click on links for more information on each.

  • B.C. Ferries provides service for both car and passenger walk-on from Horseshoe Bay to Departure Bay (1 hr 35 minutes sailing time) or Tsawwassen to Duke Point (2 hours sailing time) see schedules at www.bcferries.com. Departure Bay is 6 minutes from central Nanaimo. Duke Point is 20 minutes from central Nanaimo.
  • Flying into Nanaimo via the local harbour or Nanaimo Airport is another alternative. Click here for AirCanada. Local harbour flights are offered by Baxter Aviation and West Coast Air.
  • An Airporter Shuttle Bus is available (call at 1-800-668-3141) from Vancouver Airport to Bus Depot to catch the coach lines to Nanaimo. Call Gray Line Charters at (800) 318-0818 or (250) 388-0818 for Victoria to Nanaimo routes.

Washington State ferries provides vehicle and passenger service from Anacortes, WA, (approximately 1 ½ hours drive north of Seattle) to Sidney B.C.

Q We are moving to Nanaimo and require housing for 3-4 months. Can this be accommodated?

A. Absolutely, we provide transitional housing for new and local residents

Q. Are pets allowed in your vacation homes? Is there a pet deposit?

A. Some of the homes do permit for pets, although it needs to be confirmed first. There is a pet deposit for those homes which do accept pets.

Q. What if additional guests join us?

A. The houses are quoted and charged based on double occupancy, if there are more guests, there are additional charges.

Q. What watercrafts are available for guests staying at the lake. Can we use the motorized boat?

A. At the lake houses, the guests can enjoy canoe, kayak and paddleboat. There is no motorized boat to use. In B.C., to operate a motor vehicle with a larger engine, a license is required. There is a dock, if guests chose to bring their own boat to the lake.

Q. Is there a cleaning fee?

A. A cleaning fee is charged for each stay.

Q. Can we book a year in advance for the following summer or holiday season?

A. Absolutely, we have many guests book that far in advance.

Q. Is the kitchen fully stocked with adequate pots, pans, dishes and utensils?

A. The kitchen is completely stocked, as well as the house, is fully furnished including all linens etc. Essentially you do not need to bring anything other than your personal items.

Q. Is the lake safe for swimming or fishing?

A. Yes, swimming is great in the summer months, the lake also has bass and rainbow trout to catch while fishing.
